New pfSense web site now live
The final required item for the 1.2 release is now finished – an entirely rewritten website is now available.
If you’re still seeing the old site, wait an hour for your DNS server to expire its cache and you’ll see it then.
It’s not perfect, but we’ll continue working on it and it’s already a drastic improvement from the mess the previous site had become. It was an embarrassment to the quality the software has become, and we’re very happy to finally have a replacement available.
1.2 release was wrapped up on Sunday and will be official once we get it out on the mirrors and publish the announcement on Monday.

The RSS feed of this blog is on every page of the new site, along with a link there. I thought another link would be pretty redundant.

Current version on the website shows 1.2 but all the mirrors still show RC4 in the filename… is RC4 the release version?

My apologies, I re-read the message and it makes sense now. Thanks for all the hard work!

So, the installer CD image labeled RC4 that was posted to most of the mirrors today (the 25th) (while some have a January copy of it) is, or *is not* the official 1.2 release? I’m guessing it is not.
It may be a good idea to set up a torrent for the installer and embedded to lessen the initial spike on the mirrors. I’d love to help seed for a week or two if one were set up.

The mirrors that still have any files containing RC4 have not yet synchronized. The file names of the release version are 1.2-RELEASE.

The new site is way cleaner and easier to navigate… One nit to pick though – the text falls off the side for folks like me that tend to size our browsers to a vertical page sort of setup. Making that content div a percentage instead of a fixed 900px+ would allow many folks to avoid side-scrolling to read the text.

May I know where’s the video/screencast toturial from the old websites? It’s quite handy for a newbie like, especially the CARP toturial.
Nice looking new sites though..kudos!.

jbt: check back on the site later this week, on the Documentation page. Sloan Miller is currently working on putting up some new tutorials, and a page including all the old tutorials on the doc wiki and I’ll link it there when finished.
