Network Perimeter Redundancy with pfSense session at DCBSDCon
It’s official. As I alluded to yesterday, I will be presenting at DCBSDCon 2009.
Got to love the intro they added.
What do you get when you cross an enterprise-class packet filtering subsystem with a graphical front-end for easy configuration and maintenance? A throbbing headache for commercial vendors like SonicWALL, that’s what.
Information on the session is available on the DCBSDCon blog.
The BSD conferences are always very informative, and a great time and I’m sure DCBSDCon will be no different. I look forward to meeting many of you there.

Will you make a copy of your (PowerPoint) presentation available after DCBSDCon?
December 18th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
The presentation will be available as our past ones are, but typically they’re of limited use without the accompanying discussion. Some bullet points and screenshots won’t be exceptionally helpful.
It will cover topics that are covered in the coming pfSense book, which will be a much better resource for those looking for info.
Not sure if the sessions will be recorded and made available, that’s a possibility depending on what the conference organizers do there.

Man, I cannot WAIT for this pfSense book. I am assuming its going to become a must have for all of us that use pfSense in the workplace.
What about getting some video of your presentation, along with the powerpoint and throwing it online as a flash video?
You could host it yourself, or use something like youtube.

We’ll be buying a copy of the book for sure!

1. When is the book out and where can I get it?
2. Don’t use youtube for videos – use a better quality video site like Vimeo – even in HD!

johnny: book will be available through the usual book sellers – Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc. – approximately in February. Watch the blog here for updates.
If the session is recorded, I seriously doubt if it will be in HD.
But it’s good to know of an alternative video source.

“I will be presenting at DCBSDCon this year.”
Suppose you mean “next year”
December 27th, 2008 at 2:03 pm
Well, “this coming year” I guess.
