1.2 beta coming soon (really!)

March 29th, 2007 by Chris Buechler

Due to a substantial bounty for time based rules, this functionality is being added to the 1.2 release before we enter beta and is the reason for the delay since our last post regarding this in January. This feature isn’t ready for prime time just yet, but it’s getting close and hence we’re getting close to the first 1.2 beta. Expect to see the first beta release within the next two weeks.

Note: Scott meant 1.2, not 1.0.2 in his last post. We’re skipping 1.1 because 1.2 will be based on FreeBSD 6.2 and we’re going to try to keep the versions matching the FreeBSD release.

The policy we’ve adopted on versioning going forward is to keep with the FreeBSD release if possible, and substantial changes will always be a version increase (i.e. 1.0 to 1.2) rather than a minor version increase. 1.0.2 won’t be released unless a major problem is found in 1.0.1. Then 1.0.2 would be no different from 1.0.1 other than the fix to whatever major problem. Hopefully that makes sense.

Now that 1-2 weeks has passed, and the timebased rules are done since last week, any word on the new beta?
