Calling all themers – improving theme support in 1.3

October 13th, 2008 by Scott Ullrich

Work is underway to remove any hard coded theme items!!

If you would like to work on a theme or have worked on a theme in the past and you find something that is hard coded that you cannot change, please e-mail coreteam@pfsense.org with the hard coded details and we will get that corrected.

It’s largely for companies who want to rebrand pfSense and sell it under their own label. That’s been done with 1.2 also, but it isn’t easy to completely change the color scheme because of some of the hard coded items. But for those who just want to play, it’s there for you too. :)

I’ve been exploring a few different ideas for a whole new UI concept using large amounts of AJAX. How easy will it be to change the templates of the pages, not just existing page elements with CSS?
